Alan was born in Philadelphia, PA at Hahnemann Hospital. His father was a Homeopathic Physician and his mother was a nurse. Alan’s Grandfather was a founder of the Borough of Bryn Athyn , PA and was elected as it’s fir Burgess (mayor). Alan was raised and educated in the Bryn Athyn community and was graduated from the Bryn Athyn Academy Boys School in 1958.

Alan joined the US Navy Reserves in 1957 and served active duty on the USS Princeton CVS-37/LPH-5 between 1958 and 1960. He was an Aviation Guided Missile Technician. After active duty, he switched his reserve duty to the SeaBees (constructiojn battalion) because it better aligned with his education as an architect. He also got a job as a Deputy Sheriff so he could work at night and continue his studies during the day. One morning, when answering a family disturbance call, he was shot at by the woman’s husband. Luckily, he was not hit. The next morning, Alan turned iin his badge thinking that his wife and child weere more important than the job. He moved his family back to Bryn Athyn. Alan’s high school math teacher advised him to get a job using his strengths in mathematics. He got a job as a computet trainee.and since has had a very long and successful career with computers; eventually working in nearly every aspect of the industry.

In 1984, Alan was diagnosed with 4th stage melanoma with metastasis to the lymph system. His wife was tolde that he might not live more than three months. Luckily he had a good surgeon and survived a year of chemo-therapy with Alpha Interferon. He has been cancer free for more than 40 years. When recovering for his cancer, Alan took a Taiji course at Neshaminy night school. Through this he was introduced into chinese healing and Chinese martial arts. He studied Taji with many famous Taiji masters and has been teaching Taiji for more than 20 years. He is a member of the International Yang Family Tai Chi Association. In 2001, Alan graduated from the China Academy for Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. He is also a Usui Reiki/Seichim Master and certified as a QiGong Therapist.

Alan and his wife (Debbi) have 6 children between them, 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Their family is scattered from Pennsylvania, to Oregon, Kentucky,Texas and even Monterrey, Mexico.
